particularly in poly cystic ovare (PCO).in recent years,in association with the increasing frequency of assisted reproductive technology(ART) usage and significant improvements in the treatment of infertility,this iatrogenic phenomenon is more prevalent.the aim of this clinical trial is prevention of severe forms of ovarian hyperstimulation dyndrome by reduction of the follicles.in this prospective study the patients with more than 5 years and different causes of infertility whowere referred for IVF to the Yazd infertility center from 1992 to 1995 were investigated.27 patients had the criteria of OHSS and agreed to continue their cycles,were selected.in this group,instead of cancellation of the cycle,about half of ovarian follicles of each patient were aspirated transvaginally by ultrasound guide and human chorionic Gonadotropin hormone(HCG) or Gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) analogous was injected at the time of Luteinzing hormone (LH)surge.none of the 27 patients were found to have critical form of OHSS.clinical pregnancy were observed in 4 patients(14%).our preliminary results suggest that reduction of half of follicles may help to prevent the development of severe OHSS in high risk patients and prevention of the cancellation of the cycles.further research is needed to assess the potential of this novel approach.}, keywords = {Ovarian hyperstimulation results in unfavorable effects when it is left untreated.the last growth spurt which occurs about the age of 11-12 years in females and 14-15 years in males,can be useful to plan treatment of this malocclusion.therefore,this investigation was designed to determine the prevalence of dental crossbites in this age group at the secondary schools of Kerman.a total of 3251 students aged between 11-17 years (1621 female and 1630 male)were investogated.the results are as follows:total prevalence of crossbite was 14.34% (95% confidence interval,13.1%_15.5%).in students with crossbite,47.6% exhibited only anterior crossbite,30.7% posterior ,and 21.7% showed both anterior and posterior crossbite.therefore it is recommended that regular periodic oral examination of children should be carried out for proper diagnosis and treatment of crossbite and prevention of its complications.  }, keywords = {dental crossbite,Secondary Schools}, url = {https://jkmu.kmu.ac.ir/article_34343.html}, eprint = intramuscular injection technique on severity of pain,bruises and drug leakage at the injection site.the subjects of the study were 60 adult medical-surgical patients at Kerman university of medical sciences hospitals.subjects served as their own controls by receiving both z-track and standard  intramuscular injections.data collection was done during 1996,following administration of both injection techniques on each patient subjective measures by mean of pain reported by patient(as lesser,equai,or more in each injection ),and objective measures of injection site drug leakage and bruises(as longest diameter size/mm) were recorded.data were analyzed by parametric(paired t-test and one-way analysis of variance),and biparametric(chi-square test and sign test) statistical tests.results showed,that the z-track techique significantly decreased incidence of selected descriptors of three variables of pain(p<0.001),bruises (p<0.05) and drug leakage (p<0.001) at injection :smoling,hypertension,blood lipids,confirmed diabetes,age,sex,obesity,family history of heart problems,personality type,blood group and blood uric acid.the average age of the sample population was 40.8 years(SD=13.92) of which 17.4% were tobacco users.comfirmed hypertension was declared in 13.7% of sample population.among 2423 persons,30.3% had cholesterol level ranging from 200-239mg/100ml and in 16.2% it was above 240mg/100ml.HDL level of 28.1% (681 persons) was less than 35mg/100ml.LDL level 130mg/100ml was found in 71.5%(306 persons).high triglyceride (above 240mg/100ml) was found in 22.9% of population.prevalence of confirmed diabetes mellitus was 6.8%(8.2% in rurals and 5.6% in urbans).fasting blood suger above 110mg/100ml was found in 4.6% of urbans and nearly double (9.7%)in sciences because of crampy pains, pins and needles sensation of the extremities and history of an episode of seizure. Her problem started one week prior to admission with pain in the leg muscles, flexion of the fingers followed by seizure. On physical examination, the prominent finding included milk hepatomegaly. Exaggeration of deep tendon reflexes and positive chvosteck & Traussau signs. Laboratory test values on admission were as follows; phosphorus 8 mg/DL, ionized calcium 2 mg/ DL and undetectable serum PTH levels. Urinalysis indicated glycosuria (++) and a mild proteinuria . Radiologic studies revealed only mild generalized osteoporosis. The patient was treated with calcitriol and calcium with the impression of hypoparathyroidism. One week later serum calcium and phosphorus were normal and the patient was discharged in good condition. One and a half months later the patient experienced ecchymotic lesions on his thigh and calf. Prothrombine time (PT) and partial thromboplastin time (PTT) were prolonged and therapy with supplementary vitamin K was started. In regard to hypoparathyroidism, hepatomegaly and coagulopathy, Wilson,s disease was considered as the etiology ,this was confirmed with low serum ceruloplasmin level, 24h high urinary excretiin of corneal Kayser- Fleischer ring. It was concluded that parathyroid insufficiency was due to Wilson,s disease,secondary to copper deposition in parathyroid glands. The exact prevalence of hypoparathyroidism in Wilson's disease is not known,though it seems to be a rare finding, the cause of hypoparathyroidism in Wilson's disease is deposition of copper in parathyroid gland. There is no report of hypoparathyroidism as the first manifestation of Wilson's disease in literature , hence this patient is most probably the first case of Wilson's disease presenting with hypoparathyroidism as the first manifestation.}, keywords = {hypoparathyroidism,Wilson's disease,dancing syndrome}, url = {https://jkmu.kmu.ac.ir/article_34347.html}, eprint = {https://jkmu.kmu.ac.ir/article_34347_2e2d636ca38720d52970471abadca138.pdf} }
