this study was to determine the physical growth of healthy full-term neonates during the first month of life. for this porpuse 789 Kermanian healthy full-term singeltone infants were prospectively studied at birth,on the 10th and the 30th day of life for increase in weight(WT),crown heel lenght (CHL),head circumference(HC),chest circumference(CC), and mid arm circumference(MAC).at birth male babies had statistically significant higher values than female for Wt,CHL,HC, (p<0.001).duringg the first 10 days of life the mean (SD) gains in Wt,CHL,HC,CC and MAC were.166.6(137.7) gr 0.9(0.7),0.7(0.3),0.8(0.6) and 0.2(0.4) centimeter respectively.9.9%   of neonates showed weight reduction this period.on the 30 th day of life the mean (SD) gain in weight was 736.6(264) gr and the mean (SD) increase in CHL,HC,CC, and MAC were 3.1(1.3),2.4(0.9),3.1(1.2) and 1.3(0.6) centimeter respectively.there was a significant association (p<0.001) between breast feeding and weight gain during the first 10 days of life.the study showed a significant correlation(p<0.001) between CHL,CC,HC and birthweight.the maximum correlation for CC was (r=0.77),CHL(r=0.73) and HC(r=0.70).multiple stepwise regression analysis showed a significant positive influence of gestational age, gender, maternal age, body mass index(BMI),type of delivery, and breast feeding on some of the anthropometric parameters on the 10th and/or the 30th day of life.percentiles of all anthropometric indices were compared with NCHS standards.the percentiles of Kermanian neonates have lower values than NCHS standards and this suggest, the need for developing national growth reference standards.}, keywords = {neonate, hrowth,Anthropometric indices,Kerman}, url = {https://jkmu.kmu.ac.ir/article_34356.html}, reproductive organs in rats.the study also investigates the adverse effects of antithyroid compounds adminidtered to mothers during lactation period on the developmental process of the newborn rat,s reproductive organs and the level of sexual hormones.the early and reversible hypothyroidism were induced in newborn rat,s viaPTU(propylthiouracil) solved in mothers, drinking water in order to study the development of reproductive organs.the results indicated a significant decrease(p<0.0001) in the weight of PTU (propylthiouracil) treated animals when compared to the controls.the level of protein synthesis on 45,55 and 65 days of age showed a significant derease (p<0.001,p<0.01 and p<0.001 respectively) in comparison to the controls.however no effect on non-endocrine organs, such as kidneys and spleen were observed.the determination of FSH and LH serum level and the comparison of results in the treated animals and controls revealed that LH levels were not significant when the animals were 35 days old,but from the age of 45-55 and 60-70 days.the values were significant(P>0.01 and p<0.001 respectively),when compared to the control groups.the FSH serum density showed a decline up to the 35 days of life (p<0.01) and since then showed an upwared increase up to the 56 days of age(p<0.01).however the onset of puberty in treated animals was delayed.this may happen due to up-regulation allergic asthma by receiving a concomitant spray ang injection of ovalbumin (10% fresh egg-white in normal saline) every other days for four weeks.then animals were anesthetized and left femoral artery cannulation performed to record atrerial pressure and take blood samples.left femoral vein was cannulated to infuse nutritional fluids and grugs as needed.trachea was intubated for artificial ventilation and induction of experimental asthma by exposing pulmonary airways to allergen.a small perforation was performed in the chest wall between the 4-5 ribs in the right side and a special cannula placed into the pleural space to make a ercird of respiratory rate and plural pressure.the chest then was closed airtight and the animal was left at rest for three hours.experiment  then started by spraying 1 ml/kg of allergen into the tracheal tube.at the end of the study the animal was killed by iv injection of saturated KCI,THE LUNG EXTRACTED AND SAVED IN 10% formaldehyde solution for histopathological studie.results  of this study indicated that we could induce severe experimental asthma in the cat with clinical symptoms of severe hypoxemia, increased respiratory rate and sallow breathing (250% increase in rate and 64% decrease in pleural pressure as compared to control groyp:n=9, saline induced instead of allergen).pathologic signs of asthma was also observed by seeing air way constriction, distorted shape and presence of eosinophil and lymphocytes in air ways and in pulmonary parencchyma.therefero,it is concluded that with the above technique we could have narcotics inside intestinal tract of passengers and their illegal transfer through police stations and customs is called body packer or body bagger syndrome.in other parts of the world transfer of cocaine by this method has been reported.this prospective study was done with the help of Anti-narcotic Agency on the transfer of opium and heroin packages from Fenruary 1996 to January 1997.through this period of time 221 smugglers(216 MEN AND 5 WOMEN) WERE DETAINED,WHO HAD INGESTED THE DRUG,AVERAGE AGE OF MEN WERE 45 YEARS AND WOMEN 28 YEARS.THESE SMUGGLERS WERE TAKEN CARE OF IN THE PRISON INFIRMARY AND WITH THE USE OF 30G TO 50G OF CASTER OIL,202 OF THEM DEFECATED THE OACKAGES.HOWEVER THREE OF THE SUBJECTS HAD become poisoned, and another had intestinal obstruction, these four patients were transferred to the hospital.a total of 15 drug poisoning(opium or heroin) were observed because some of the drug packages were ruptured inside the body, all of these cases were hospitalized.in the case of those poisoned with the drug laparatomy was performed following treatment and the pachages were removed.mortality rate of this group was 26% .the weight of the opium carried by these smugglers  was 64.55kg which was packaged inside 6043 bags and heroin weighed about 11.273kg and was pachaged inside 1599 bags.since these cases can be observed in other of Iran, this report is published to
