Abstract

 
in order to determine the frequency of migraine and depression and the realtionship between them a study was carried out among 238 randomly selected medical students of Kerman university of medical sciences during April 1995.back depression inventory(BDI) questionaire was used to determine deoression.in addition a questionaire in relation to migraine based on the international classification of headache was used.the findings indicated that 78 (32.8%) of the subjects had migraine,depression,or both of which,22(9.2%) had migraine headache,37(15.5%) suffered from depression and 19(7.9%) had migraine + depression.in general,41(17.1%) of the subjects had migraine headache and 56 (23.4%) suffered from depression.the Chi square analysis revealed a statistically significant relationship between migraine and depression(p<0.005).these finding indicate that the occurance of both migraine headache and depression is significant among medical students of Kerman university of medical sciences.
