Abstract
Introduction: The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic first started in Wuhan, China in December 2019 and has spread rapidly around the world. Since the effective indicators to evaluate the severity and clinical progress of the disease need to be further investigated so that they can be used to reduce mortality. We sought to analyze the laboratory findings of some cases of coronavirus pneumonia in Iran.
Materials & Methods: This is a retrospective study of patients hospitalized with confirmed COVID-19 at Sina Hospital of Hamadan University of Medical Sciences from March 20, 2020 to June 21, 2021.
Results: The mean age of patients was 57.2 ±16.18 years, of which 896 (64.2%) patients over 50 years. 52.6% of infected people are men, and in terms of severity of corona disease, 85.95% of sick people were in the critical group. Total of 508 patients (78.0%) had hypoalbuminemia. The level of creatinine in 83.8% of patients and blood urea nitrogen(BUN) in 87.5% of patients is in the normal range. Regarding liver enzymes, in the case of ALT, 27.7% of patients had an increase in this enzyme and 46.3% of patients they also showed an increase in AST enzyme.
Conclusion: A decrease in serum albumin, an increase in liver enzymes, and abnormality of kidney function tests were seen in patients with corona virus. And it was found that they are associated with inflammatory markers. Screening and daily monitoring of patients leads to early identification of risk factors in patients.
