substitution of hydrogenated oil by sunflower liquid oil on plasma levels of LDL,HDL, total cholestero and triglycerids in normal subjects.thirty six healthy inmates participated in this research. they were consuming hydrogenated oil before the study, and were maintained on sunflower diet for one month.then they were switched to hydrogenated oil regimen for the next two months.blood samples were collected for meansuring the levels of HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol ,total cholesterol and triglycerids at the beginning anad 15 days intervals during the study.the results showed that omission of hydrogenated oil from the diet significantly increases the serum HDL-cholesterol (p<0.001) level and reswitching from sunflower oil to shortening regimen reverts such beneficial effects.no significant case-control study was carried out to evaluate the Prevalence of positive cases of anti-HCV Ab in 107 thalassemic patients  and 107 children without any previous history of blood transfusion as a control group.ELISA GENERATION II was used for serologic investigation and then positive cases were confiemed  by RIBA generation I.the average age of thalassemic patients was 9.2+_4.3 years and those of control group was 8.9+_4.2 years.45.1% of the case group and 39.2% of the control group were female and 54.9% of the case group and 60.8% of the control group were male.Anti-HVC Ab was positive in 22.4% of the thalassemic patients  while there was no positive case in the control group and the difference was statistically significant(p<0.001).the average number of transfusions was 104+_58.2 in anti-HCV Ab positive  thalassemic patients and 85.3+_50.6 in anti-HCV Ab negative patients and the difference was not statistically significant(p=0.126).According to the results of this study, the prevalence of contamination with HCV was zero in normal population of Kernanian children and 22.4% in  thalassemic patients.therefore screening of donated bloods for anti-HCV Ab in order to eliminate diffuses into the environment from combustion of organic meterials.based on various epidemiological evidences it is related to lung, skin and liver cancer.mutagenicity, and immunosuppressivety are among important biological effects of Benzo(a) pyrene.after absorbtion and distribution in the body,it undergoes epoxidation by cytochrome P-450 system in the cells.some of the electrophilic metabolites covalently bind to cellular macromolecules and in particular to DNA. its metabolites are partially detoxified conjunction to cellular glutathione (GSH),glucoronic acid, and sulphate.biological effects of B(a) P and its metabolits depent on various factors such as species, age, sex, tissue, diet, dose, genetic system, etc.the fundemental physiological difference between newborns and adults are variations in susceptibility to chemical carcinogens observed between the two age groups.in this paper we studied the level of binding of B?(A)p to calf thymus DNA and formation of DNA adduct in the incubation systems which contained adilt and newborn rat liver and skin microsomes.results indicate that in both age groups liver microsomes in comparison to skin microsomes cause a higher increase in the level of DNA addult and the ratio of DNA aduct in the liver of adults compared to animal skin was 4.2 to 1.the quatity of adduct in the incubation systems containing liver microsomes of newborn was 1-51 higher than that of skin microsomes. Moreover phenobarbiton failed to induce cytochrome p-450 and any increase in DNA adduct level of B(a)P in the newborns rat.the level of Cytochrome P-450 in adult
