Abstract
Background: Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) is a rare malignancy of the oral cavity, typically characterized by a slow-growing course, a predilection for the female gender, and frequent involvement of the parotid gland.In this report, we present an unusual case of a rapidly growing and painless lesion on the floor of the mouth in a male patient Clinically, the lesion exhibited features resembling an epithelial tumor, which, along with the patient’s history of cigarette and smokeless tobacco use, posed a diagnostic challenge. Histopathological evaluation confirmed the diagnosis of Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) with lymph node involvement.
Case presentation: A 55-year-old man with a history of cigarette and smokless tobacco use , had a swelling of the left oral floor and neck from 2 weeks ago, and it bled three days ago. There was a firm exophytic mass with ulcerative surface on the floor of the mouth on the left side. Submandibular lymph nodes were enlarged, hard, and fixed. He underwent an operation, and the final patholiogy report confimed ACC involvement.
Conclusion: ACC may manifest without common manifestations, and physicians should be aware.
